Alcohol & Sexuality – Why It’s Time to Question Our Drunk Sex

I think it’s time to question our drunk sex. Alcohol and sexuality are not a great mixture. We are not as conscious, not as sensitive and not as orgasmic.
Sure we might seem more ‘courageous’ and more ‘loose’ but for the long-run, this is no solution.

A study released by a British feminine-hygiene company discovered that five of 10 prefer drunken sex to sober sex.

I know alcohol quite well… 99% of the sex I experienced in my teenage years was on alcohol. And I am not proud of it.

But I am sharing this with you anyway because I realize that teenagers and adults are building their sexual stamina and courage on alcohol.

What if you are not drunk and have sex? What if it’s during the day with lights on? What if you have a sober mind and you are standing in front of your partner naked?

If we are used to be drunk in an intimate situation, it will be much harder to navigate yourself through this sober.

You might feel even more nervous. You might not know what you truly want. You might not get wet, not hard, not aroused because your mind gets in the way.

Women regularly drink before sex alcohol to get loose and courageous. It’s no surprise that we get a little drunk because it helps. Alcohol increases your libido, testosterone until it decreases it again.

This self-esteem is unsustainable. It simply isn’t. And don’t let me get started about the negative impact alcohol has on our body.

Reasons why alcohol & sex is a bad combo:

  • Premature penetration happens way more often because we are disconnected, clumsy and unaware of our physical needs.
  • We tend to be less empathic to notice whether your partner enjoys what you are doing. We are more reckless.
  • When we are drunk we are more likely not to use a condom, increase our risks for STDs.
  • Blackout risks, rape risk with One-night stands
  • Sensitivity decreases, less knowledge about what our body needs and feels like
